New Delhi. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath arrived in the national capital on Thursday, where he is likely to meet the BJP’s central leadership.
Sources said Adityanath has reached Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s residence to hold a meeting to discuss the political situation in Uttar Pradesh.
Sources also said that the Uttar Pradesh chief minister is expected to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday morning and will meet Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president J. You can also meet P. Nadda.
Sources said preparations for next year’s assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh will be the main agenda of Adityanath’s meeting with the party’s central leadership.
Sources also say that the Uttar Pradesh government’s handling of the COVID situation during the second wave of the pandemic is also likely to be discussed during the meetings.
While the opposition has criticized the state’s efforts to tackle COVID-19, the BJP leadership has lauded the work done by the Uttar Pradesh government.
Adityanath’s visit to New Delhi has fueled speculations about the Uttar Pradesh cabinet and possible changes in the party’s structure ahead of next year’s assembly elections.
A party insider said, possible cabinet expansion or reshuffle is also likely to be discussed in the meetings. Changes in the state BJP unit are also part of the agenda to strengthen the party ahead of next year’s assembly elections.
BJP’s national general secretary (organisation) B. L. Santosh and state in-charge Radha Mohan Singh visited Lucknow to review the party’s preparations for next year’s assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh.
Santosh took feedback from state ministers and MLAs, fueling speculation about the party’s possible transition to Uttar Pradesh.
Sources claimed that based on the feedback collected by the central leadership, it has been decided to reshuffle the Uttar Pradesh government as well as the state unit of the party.
Sources also said that the role of former Union minister Jitin Prasada, who quit the Congress and joined the BJP on Wednesday, will also be discussed during Adityanath’s meetings with the central BJP leadership.
A famous Brahmin face in Uttar Pradesh, Prasad’s father Jitendra Prasad is known as a prominent Brahmin leader in Uttar Pradesh.
