New Delhi. The central government has ensured a fund of Rs 50,000 crore for the National Research Foundation for five years. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan also talked about the National Research Foundation and said that its establishment will boost research and innovation in the country. The Education Minister said that we have to promote India as a global education destination that provides premium education at affordable prices. He said, Indian universities that perform well will be encouraged to open their campuses in other countries. Similarly, foreign universities will be given the facility to open campuses in India.
Apart from this, facilities for research, teaching collaboration and faculty, student exchange with foreign institutions of high quality will also be made available. It will be established as Study in India Stay in India brand.
Talking about India’s higher education system, Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said that the time has come when we need to make unprecedented reforms in our education system. Keeping this in mind, we have come up with the New National Education Policy (NEP 2020) under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which will define the higher education system in a new way.
Dharmendra Pradhan said that Prime Minister Modi has repeatedly emphasized that India’s moral obligation is to give the world not only responsible citizens but also a global citizen. Our new National Education Policy will work in this direction through its four pillars, Quality, Equity, Access and Affordability. A new India (New India) will emerge on the basis of this.
The Education Minister said this while addressing the World Universities Summit organized by OP Jindal Global University on Wednesday.
The summit was attended by Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu, University Grants Commission Chairman Professor (Dr) D P Singh, OP Jindal Global University Chancellor Mr Naveen Jindal, Founder Vice Chancellor Professor (Dr) C Raj Kumar, Registrar Professor Dabiru Sridhar Patnaik and other dignitaries. Members were present.
Dharmendra Pradhan said that as universities across the world are trying to overcome this pandemic and continue education relentlessly, this summit organized by OP Jindal Global University is very timely.
The summit was attended by more than 150 intellectuals, including Vice Chancellors, Presidents, Rectors and Provosts from over 100 universities from 25 countries.
Talking in detail about the new National Education Policy, the Education Minister said that it has been made keeping in mind the vision of a self-reliant India of Prime Minister Modi.
“In keeping with the international perspective, this policy focuses on innovation and research that will have a direct impact on our society and the global community,” he said. With this, in future our educational institutions will work in better synergy following global standards and convert human resources into human capital.
He also talked about holistic and multi-disciplinary education and said that the aim of providing education in regional and local language is that there should be holistic development of every section of the students and no one should be harmed.
