Kolkata. BJP National Vice President and MP from Krishnanagar North Mukul Roy is expected to meet West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. There is speculation that he and his son Subhranshu Roy may return to the Trinamool Congress.
Roy told a close friend that he was going to meet Banerjee on Friday. When contacted, he declined to comment on the meeting.
At the same time, Banerjee will hold a meeting at Trinamool Congress Bhavan at 3 pm. Roy is likely to meet the Chief Minister after the meeting.
Party sources said that the party is going to take two big decisions in the meeting to be held on Friday. The party has earlier announced the decision of one person one post principle and it is likely to be officially announced and implemented in today’s meeting.
A senior party member said, “Apart from this, there are many people who left the party before the elections but want to return. Our leader Mamata Banerjee can take a decision in this regard.
Party sources also said that Roy is likely to meet the chief minister at Trinamool Bhavan, but he remained silent on the issue of joining the party. However, political observers are of the opinion that Roy’s equations with the BJP are becoming increasingly tense, drawing him closer to his previous party. This is evident from several incidents in the past few days.
The Trinamool Congress’s attitude towards Roy has changed and this was evident when Mamata Banerjee called Roy a ‘bhalo chele’ (good boy) in her election campaign, followed by Abhishek Banerjee visiting the hospital to see Roy’s wife. did.
Though Roy was not present during their visit, Abhishek met his son Subhranshu Roy and the two had a discussion for more than half an hour. After the meeting, Shubhranshu praised Abhishek fiercely.
Right after Abhishek’s visit, the state BJP president reached the hospital to see Roy’s wife and the next day Prime Minister Narendra Modi called Roy to inquire about his wife’s health. Roy, however, ignored the speculation and declared that he was a BJP worker and would continue to work for the party. After this, speculation has intensified due to his non-attendance in several BJP meetings, including the first State Legislative Committee meeting and the BJP State Committee meeting.
Now, Roy’s meeting with the Chief Minister may put an end to all speculations.
