The central government has sought nominations for the Padma award by September 15

New Delhi. Online nominations have begun for the Padma Awards to be announced on the occasion of Republic Day. The last date for nominations for the Padma Awards is September 15, 2021. Nominations for the Padma Awards will be received through online mode on the Padma Awards Portal. The Padma Awards include the Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri among the highest civilian awards of the country. These awards, instituted in 1954, are announced every year on the occasion of Republic Day. The award seeks to recognize ‘distinction in work’ and distinguished and exceptional achievements in all fields of disciplines such as art, literature and education, sports, medicine, social work, science, engineering, public affairs, civil service, trade and industry etc. is provided for.

All persons without distinction of race, occupation, status or gender are eligible for these awards. Government employees, including those working with PSUs, except doctors and scientists, are not eligible for the Padma award.

The Ministry of Home Affairs has requested all the Central Ministries to recognize Bharat Ratna and Padma Vibhushan winners, institutions of excellence to identify those talented individuals whose excellence and achievements are truly amongst women, weaker sections of the society, Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, Persons with Disabilities Should be entitled to recognition and they should be engaged in selfless service to the society.
