Gurugram. The Haryana Town and Country Planning Department (DTCP) on Thursday vandalized a road network and electric poles being constructed in an illegal colony developed on six acres of land at Kherki Daula in Sector 77, during an illegal encroachment drive.
Officials said an illegal colony was being developed by six people, including a former MLA.
In connection with the matter, Praveen Yadav, Deepak Chugh, Manorama, Mahendra Sharma, under sections 10, 7 (i), and 7(2) of the Haryana Development and Regulation of Urban Areas Act, 1975 at Kherki Daula police station in April 2021, A case was registered against Sombir Jakhar and former Gurugram MLA Umesh Agarwal.
DTCP officials said that despite registering an FIR, road network and electricity poles were also installed in an illegal colony.
Station House Officer of Kherki Daul police station Krishan Kant told IANS that the former MLA reached the spot to stop the vandalism operation, but was pacified by DTCP officials. A road network and electric poles were built in an illegal colony, which were demolished by a team of DTCP.
He said DTCP officials told that they had received a tip-off that an illegal colony was being set up on six acres of land in Sector 77. Later he conducted an inspection and found that a colony was being developed here illegally.
A DTCP official said, “We again conducted a joint inspection with the revenue department and found that two property dealers and former MLA Umesh Agarwal were promoting the illegal colony. A complaint was lodged with the police and a case was registered in April. it was done.”
DTCP officials said a road network, electric poles and an office have been constructed on the land. This is an institutional area and development of an illegal colony cannot be allowed in this area. No permission was taken to develop it.
