Prime Minister Narendra Modi to attend the 47th G7 summit

New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will participate in the outreach sessions of the G-7 group summit to be held virtually on 12 and 13 June at the invitation of British Prime Minister Boris Johnson. The UK currently holds the presidency of the G-7 and has invited Australia, the Republic of Korea and South Africa as well as India as guest countries for the G-7 summit. The meeting will be held in hybrid mode.

The theme of the summit is ‘Sustainable Socio-Industrial Restoration’. Britain has outlined four priority areas for its presidency. Leading the global recovery from the coronavirus by ensuring greater resilience against future pandemics, promoting future prosperity by supporting free and fair trade, combating climate change and conserving our planet’s biodiversity Such topics will be discussed.

Politicians are expected to exchange their views on the way forward for the global recovery from the pandemic, with a focus on health and climate change. This is the second time that Prime Minister Modi will participate in the G-7 meeting. (IANS)
