In order to speed up vaccination in the country, the central government had recently decided to provide free vaccination across the country. In this, all people above 18 years of age will be vaccinated across the country from Monday. Now states will not have to buy vaccines from vaccine manufacturers. Now the central government will buy the vaccines and give them free of cost to the states and union territories.
Vaccination started on 16 June
Vaccination was started in the country from 16 January. In this first phase, from January 16 to April 30, the central government bought 100 percent vaccines from vaccine manufacturers and gave them free of cost to the states. In this phase, front line workers and people above 45 years of age were vaccinated. After this, the second phase of vaccination started from May 1. In this, the Center bought 50 percent of the vaccines and the remaining states and private hospitals bought them directly.

According to the Union Health Ministry, the central government agreed to go back to the old policy because many states said that they are facing difficulty in procuring vaccines, managing their logistics and managing money. This was also affecting the national immunization programme. Therefore, from June 21, the central government has announced free vaccination across the country.
States, Union Territories have more than 3 crore vaccines left
Meanwhile, the Union Health Ministry on Sunday said that more than 3.06 crore anti-Covid-19 vaccines are available with the states and union territories. They will get more than 24.53 lakh vaccines in the next three days.
Provided more than 29 crore vaccines so far
The Ministry said that according to the data available from Sunday till 8 am, the Government of India has so far provided more than 29,10,54,050 vaccines to the states and union territories free of cost. Out of this, a total of 26,04,19,412 vaccines have been consumed including the wasted vaccines. In this way, 3,06,34,638 anti-Covid-19 vaccines are available with the states and union territories at present. The ministry said that preparations are on to send 24,53,080 more vaccines and they will get them in the next three days. The Health Ministry said, ‘Testing, surveillance and covid-friendly behavior, as well as vaccination, are an important pillar of the government’s comprehensive strategy to manage and prevent this epidemic.’
2000 buses will start in Bangalore from tomorrow
On the other hand, bus services are being restored in Bangalore from Monday due to reduced corona infection. On Sunday, Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) announced that it will start 2,000 buses from June 21. These will run on major routes from Bangalore city from 6 am to 7 pm.
