New Delhi . An incident of violence has been registered in the Jawaharlal Nehru University regarding the opening of the library. Some students, who were insisting to open the library, tried to enter the library and during this time the security personnel were also pushed. The students said that they needed to use the library to continue their studies. Police have registered a case for violation of government order and under Epidemic Act.
A case has been registered against the students at Vasantkunj North Police Station in this case. The library is closed for the students due to corona infection. According to the police, a group of students gathered outside the library and asked the guard to open the library gate but the guard did not open the gate. After this there was a debate and then a scuffle started between the students and the security personnel present there.
Five students have been named by the police on the complaint of the JNU University administration. Police are now identifying the accused from the CCTV footage.
Security officer KP Singh on behalf of JNU University administration gave a complaint to the police. In his complaint, KP Singh said that several students gathered outside the library on Tuesday night. The students were adamant on opening the library. According to the security personnel, they made a cordon and prevented the students from going to the library. On this some students started manhandling the security personnel. In all this a glass of the library was broken.
After this the matter was reported to the police. According to the police, the incident is of June 8 and the case was registered on Wednesday on the complaint of the Chief Security Officer of the university. However, no arrest has been made yet.
